Lim Kim Hai is one of iconic Malaysian art master, applying apples as a subject matter to imply his perspectives on life. Apples for the artist refer plump and thriving life. Sturdy and durable apples show different sheen and angle on the canvas. They seem floating on the canvas and create an infinite space on 2D canvas. For Lim Kim Hai, a person’s life journey is filled with uncertainty and challenges. As an artist, making art is a constant challenge and his continue study on one subject – Apples is his life mission in art journey.

Lim Kim Hai was born in 1950. He studied at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore and Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Art, Paris. He won the Golden Award from Salon des Artists Fancais, Paris in 1982 Silver from Salon Internationale, Du Val D’ Or, France in 1984; Prix Henri Lehman from istitut de France, Academy des Beau in 1986. Many of Lim’s paintings are acquired by Hong Leong Bank Berhad, Malayan Banking Berhad, RHB Bank Berhad, United Overseas Bank Limited and The Embassy of France in Singapore.

林金海是马来西亚最具代表的艺术大师之一，他的作品都以苹果呈现他独特的人生哲学。对林金海而言，苹果代表着充实而欣欣向荣的生活。画布上饱满成串的苹果呈现出不同的光泽和角度。它们看似漂浮在平面画布上并且创造出无限的空间。对林金海来说，一个人的人生旅程充满了不确定性和挑战。身为艺术家，创作艺术是一项持续的挑战，而持续不间断地研究一个主题—苹果是他的艺术之旅中的使命。林金海生于1950年， 曾就读于新加坡南洋美术学院及巴黎国立高等美术学院。 1982年获巴黎艺术沙龙金奖 , 1984年法国杜瓦尔多尔国际沙龙银牌； 1986 年从法国美术学院获得亨利雷曼奖。林的许多画作被丰隆银行有限公司 、 马来亚银行有限公司、兴业银行有限公司 、 大华银行有限公司和法国驻新加坡大使馆收藏。
