Lim Kim Hai is one of iconic Malaysian art master, applying apples as a subject matter to imply his perspectives on life. Apples for the artist refer plump and thriving life. Sturdy and durable apples show different sheen and angle on the canvas. They seem floating on the canvas and create an infinite space on 2D canvas. For Lim Kim Hai, a person’s life journey is filled with uncertainty and challenges. As an artist, making art is a constant challenge and his continue study on one subject – Apples is his life mission in art journey.

Lim Kim Hai was born in 1950. He studied at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore and Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Art, Paris. He won the Golden Award from Salon des Artists Fancais, Paris in 1982 Silver from Salon Internationale, Du Val D’ Or, France in 1984; Prix Henri Lehman from istitut de France, Academy des Beau in 1986. Many of Lim’s paintings are acquired by Hong Leong Bank Berhad, Malayan Banking Berhad, RHB Bank Berhad, United Overseas Bank Limited and The Embassy of France in Singapore.
