Fabric of Time — Tony Ng Solo Exhibition

Art WeMe Contemporary is pleased to present Fabric of Time, a solo exhibition by Malaysian artist Tony Ng, running from 13 to 21 June 2026 at its Vida Bukit Ceylon space.

In Fabric of Time, Tony Ng reflects on the enduring relationship between memory, heritage, and identity through a series of paintings inspired by traditional batik textiles and culturally significant objects. Drawing from the rich visual language of Southeast Asian decorative traditions, the artist transforms familiar patterns and motifs into contemplative works that speak to the passage of time and the preservation of cultural memory.

For Tony, batik is more than a textile tradition. It is a repository of stories, craftsmanship, and collective experience passed down through generations. Through carefully observed details, layered textures, and a sensitive use of colour, his paintings invite viewers to consider how objects become witnesses to history, carrying traces of the people, places, and moments that have shaped them.

The exhibition explores the tension between permanence and impermanence. While fabrics fade and heirlooms age, the memories and cultural values embedded within them continue to endure. Each work serves as a visual archive, preserving fragments of a shared heritage while reinterpreting them within a contemporary artistic context.
